Agri-PV: a double harvest from the same hectare

Agrivoltaics (Agri-PV, APV) combines farming and electricity generation on the same land. Modules are mounted elevated or vertically — crops, livestock or specialty cultures continue underneath. The land remains agricultural; subsidy eligibility is preserved.

Studies show that proper system design lifts total land-use efficiency by up to 86 % compared to separated land use. For sensitive crops such as berries, fruit or vineyards, Agri-PV simultaneously provides protection against heat, hail and sunburn.

Systems we build

Overhead Agri-PV (high-mounted)

Modules 4–6 m above ground level — full machine clearance, ideal for arable crops, specialty cultures and grazing.

Vertical Agri-PV

Bifacial modules mounted vertically in rows, with maize or grassland in between. Low shading, higher morning and evening power output.

Tracker systems

Modules follow the sun while providing dynamic shading. Ideal for heat-sensitive crops.

Specialty applications

Berry tunnels, orchards, hops, viticulture, floating Agri-PV on irrigation ponds.

Subsidies & regulatory framework in Austria

Agri-PV is eligible under Austria's EAG (Renewable Expansion Act). We know the requirements for dual use, land-use efficiency, soil protection and municipal zoning.

  • EAG investment subsidy (up to 30 % of eligible costs)
  • Market premium for direct electricity marketing
  • Preservation of agricultural land status
  • Coordination with authorities, AMA (Agrarmarkt Austria), Chamber of Agriculture

Our reference: Agri-PV Schäferhof

eco-NG planned and built the Agri-PV Schäferhof installation, combining solar generation with active sheep farming — and delivering significantly higher revenue per hectare than agriculture alone.
